Prague, often dubbed ‘The Paris of the East,’ is a charming city chock full of history, quaint shops and hearty foods. One of the downsides to living in South Florida? The lack of fall. If there’s any sign of “fall,” it usually means a palm frond has fallen from a tree. Not the stuff that makes you think of sweaters, pumpkin-flavored everything, and typical fall activities amongst a backdrop of colorful-leaved trees. Pennsylvania, on the other hand, has amazing, beautiful autumn seasons – and I can vouch for this state because I lived there for four years. As Halloween festivities take place tonight and this weekend, I thought I would share some adorable, yummy, and HEALTHY treats I recently saw. Though you may not be able to make these tonight, let the pictures inspire you for upcoming holidays, or to make anytime of the year. These treats are such a healthy alternative to the heavy influx of sugars and processed treats that are so prevalent during Halloween. I think these treats would be so fun to make and decorate specifically for Thanksgiving or Christmas parties. As much as I love the heat of the summer, fall has now arrived, and I am extremely delighted for the next few months. No longer will that mean walking outside into searing humidity and heat. The days will be cool and crisp and the signs of the upcoming holidays will soon show. Images of being clad in plaid, sitting at bonfires, and hosting marathon movie nights pop into my head.
Since the temperature is still at a steady 85 degrees, I thought I would try to bring some “fall atmosphere” into my kitchen this morning. With that in mind, I whipped up a quick bowl of some good old-fashioned oatmeal with fresh apples and spices. And though I may be uncomfortably hot when I try to wear a long sleeve flannel outside, this recipe hits the right spot in terms of feeling like it’s actually fall (even though there are just a few more days until it is officially fall).
