If you’re looking for a peaceful, idyllic place while in Colombia, be sure to make a stop in the vibrant town of Guatapé, Colombia, which is surrounded by a lake and the monolith rock, Piedra del Peñol. The rock is a highly sought after attraction of Guatapé, where visitors can climb nearly 700 steps to the top, giving a view of the beautiful countryside and lake below. Marie Kondo’s magic art of tidying up seems to be all the rage over the past few weeks, thanks to her new Netflix show, ‘Tidying Up With Marie Kondo.’ A few years ago, I put her book, ‘The Life-changing Magic of Tidying Up: The Japanese Art of Decluttering and Organizing’ on my reading list, but never got around to reading it (it’s still on the list though!). When I found out the other week that she had a Netflix show, I had to watch. I’ve only seen a few episodes, but already I’ve been inspired to reorganize and donate my extra belongings. Reaching elevations of 13,000 and 17,480 feet, the two-day bus ride from Manali to Leh (Ladakh), India is not for the faint of heart. Not knowing much about Leh (or where it was exactly), I joined my friends on a standard yet seemingly ill-equipped-for-mountainous-terrain public bus while battling one of the worst mysterious travel illnesses I have ever had (more on that another day – the memory is still to painful).
