Travel Companies Adapting to Solo Travelers

Solo traveling is thrilling yet challenging, freeing yet stress-inducing. Basically it’s a blend of extreme emotions that (in my experiences) always has some positive aspect – whether it’s the opportunities that open up, the personal skills you gain or the insights you learn about yourself.

How To Pack Light

Okay, so I have to share this article because it totally applies to me (and I’m sure thousands of other people who tend to overpack). The more you travel, the better you get at packing. You realize what you do really need (such as toiletries, one pair of sturdy shoes, etc.) and what you don’t need (ten shirts, 5 pairs of pants, 3 shirts per day – all for a weekend trip). For this travel news post, you’ll learn how flight attendants, those constant travelers, pack for each trip. Hint: It doesn’t involve many things – just strategy. Places to Hike in Boulder, Colorado

If you live near mountains, or even hills higher than 10 feet, than count yourself lucky. Because if you live in Florida for a few years, you’ll probably forget that walking up a hill requires some exertion, and walking up a mountain trail filled with large rocks and tree stumps will require even more exertion. This was the case when I went hiking in Boulder, Colorado. But the outstanding views made all the struggling worth it. Here are three hikes you need to tackle when you go to Boulder. Hurricane Irma: My First Hurricane In Florida

Over the past weekend, everyone in the United States, and many parts of the world, had their eyes on Florida. As Hurricane Irma had already ripped through the Caribbean, leaving destruction and even death, many were scared of the impact a Category 5 storm would have on the Sunshine State (categories are 1-5 and depict a hurricane’s sustained wind speed and potential for damage). Thousands evacuated, but my family and I stayed near Fort Lauderdale. Here’s what it was like during a hurricane… Continue reading “Hurricane Irma: My First Hurricane In Florida”

What to Pack for Backpacking in India

Ahh packing – pretty much my favorite thing to do (insert sarcasm). I’m always super jealous of the travelers I meet who love packing, or who can properly pack within a few hours. For me, packing isn’t necessarily hard, it’s the decision-making process that haunts me (and often amounts to me questioning just how much clothing to bring). I created a list for my two-month backpacking trip to India, but after two-months, here’s what I really needed, and what you may find you need to pack. Trying American restaurants in India

When traveling abroad, I try to avoid any chain restaurants, especially American restaurants. The last thing I want to do is go all the way to a new country, and only eat foods I can easily have in my own country. And in my opinion, tasting new foods is one of the best ways to experience a culture! However, there do come times when you realize you’ve only got small change and there are no ATMs in sight, or you crave some sugary, terrible-for-you fast food from home. In times like these, you cave and enter the nearest Dunkin’ Donuts/ Burger King/ McDonalds. Here’s what you’re missing (or not missing), at several of these places in India… Continue reading “Trying American restaurants in India “

What it’s like to attend a movie at a fancy Indian movie theater

I had read it was a worthwhile experience to watch a movie at a movie theater in India. Watching movies in other countries is not what I typically think of doing while traveling, but I figured India must have an interesting theater livelihood, especially with Bollywood being such an integral part of daily life in this country.
