Mixed opinions. That’s what I received when I started telling people – friends, family and some strangers – that I was planning to visit Colombia. The violence and instability that plagued Colombia for several decades is still fresh in many people’s minds, particularly my parents. Continue reading “Guide To Medellín, Colombia on a Budget”

How To Pack Light
Okay, so I have to share this article because it totally applies to me (and I’m sure thousands of other people who tend to overpack). The more you travel, the better you get at packing. You realize what you do really need (such as toiletries, one pair of sturdy shoes, etc.) and what you don’t need (ten shirts, 5 pairs of pants, 3 shirts per day – all for a weekend trip). For this travel news post, you’ll learn how flight attendants, those constant travelers, pack for each trip. Hint: It doesn’t involve many things – just strategy. Continue reading “How To Pack Light”
Two Places You Can’t Miss Seeing In Laguna Beach, California
As a native Californian, I’m always thrilled anytime I get to return to The Golden State. On my most recent trip, a road trip with my friend Ashton (who recently wrote several guest posts about travel in Europe and Morocco on The Bohemian Mermaid), we stopped in Laguna Beach for a few days. Let’s just say the beaches in Laguna are absolutely stunning (though the water’s just a taddd colder than the Atlantic Ocean by Florida). I fell in love with the beaches here, so I had to share two places by the Pacific Ocean that you need to see… Continue reading “Two Places You Can’t Miss Seeing In Laguna Beach, California”
What to Pack for Backpacking in India
Ahh packing – pretty much my favorite thing to do (insert sarcasm). I’m always super jealous of the travelers I meet who love packing, or who can properly pack within a few hours. For me, packing isn’t necessarily hard, it’s the decision-making process that haunts me (and often amounts to me questioning just how much clothing to bring). I created a list for my two-month backpacking trip to India, but after two-months, here’s what I really needed, and what you may find you need to pack. Continue reading “What to Pack for Backpacking in India”

Trying American restaurants in India
When traveling abroad, I try to avoid any chain restaurants, especially American restaurants. The last thing I want to do is go all the way to a new country, and only eat foods I can easily have in my own country. And in my opinion, tasting new foods is one of the best ways to experience a culture! However, there do come times when you realize you’ve only got small change and there are no ATMs in sight, or you crave some sugary, terrible-for-you fast food from home. In times like these, you cave and enter the nearest Dunkin’ Donuts/ Burger King/ McDonalds. Here’s what you’re missing (or not missing), at several of these places in India… Continue reading “Trying American restaurants in India “
